We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. All Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.
We believe that there is only one true and living God, revealed to us as the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.
We believe the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His incarnation, virgin birth, sinless life, His atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of the Father. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Lord of our life. His life and ministry are available to us today.
We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit. The indwelling presence and supernatural power of the Holy Spirit unites a Christian with the very life of God and enables one to live a holy life.
We believe that man was created holy, innocent, and happy but by the disobedience of one man, sin entered into the world and death by sin passed upon all men since all have sinned (by free choice).
We believe that the only way of salvation is by grace through faith in the atonement and righteousness of Jesus Christ, and it is the need of all men to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that nothing can separate true believers from the love of God and that they will be kept by His power through faith unto salvation.
A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. Each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord.
We believe that Christian baptism is administered by the immersion of believers in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism occurs following an individual’s commitment to Christ as a sign of obedience to God. It is a public demonstration of a personal commitment that has already been made to Christ.
The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby believers remember the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ.
We believe that there will be resurrection of the dead and a judgment when all mankind will be judged according to their position in Christ, that the wicked shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the redeemed will enter into God’s presence.
We believe that the Great Commission is a divinely appointed mandate for the spread of the Gospel throughout the world and that it is the duty of each Christian.
God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual; all that we have and are we owe to Him. Christians have a spiritual responsibility to the whole world, a holy trusteeship in the Gospel, and a binding stewardship to serve Him with their time, talents, and material possessions.
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.
Marriage is the unity of one man and one woman in a covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God since both are created in God’s image. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, protect, and lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the Lordship of Christ.
Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God’s pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline to make choices based on biblical truth.
We believe that all people are created in the image of God and thus have equal worth and dignity. We find unity with people of all backgrounds, races, and ethnicities through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. We find direction on church unity and how it should function in God’s infallible Word, put forth in His commands. In light of His call and command for unity among all believers, we joyfully submit to these truths, seeking repentance and pursing righteousness.
We celebrate that God, in His wisdom, through the work of his Holy Spirit, ordains our wonderfully unique individualities, to function as one body, a glorifying body, whose purpose and design is to bring about the fullest expression of Jesus Christ, in this the Church Age.

The story of North Oxford all begins with God. Every church is unique, and so is North Oxford. God planted a vision and passion within the hearts of those who call this church home. North Oxford Baptist Church, as we know her today, is the result of many prayers, sacrifices, gifts, hours of manual labor, and a devoted love for God from many people in the past and present days.
In early 1949, a small group of devoted Christians believed the Oxford community was in need of a church in the northern area of town. A tent revival began on a vacant lot near “three-way” intersection in that part of town. Enthusiasm and interest for the establishment of a permanent church mounted in the hearts of those who attended, and revival services continued for three weeks.
On April 24, 1949, North Oxford Baptist Church was born with 34 charter members. That June, a building fund was started for the purpose of construction of the first permanent structure, and on April 23, 1950, worship services were held for the first time in the new building.
The church has served the Lord in the Oxford-Lafayette community ever since in many different ways and seeks to be a light for Gospel in the world. North Oxford is a mission-minded church with ministry relationships across the United States and the world!
